Fire Chief Christopher LeClaire would like to notify all residents that emergency siren testing will be conducted at the Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant this morning.
On Wednesday, March 4, the Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant will be conducting a test of its emergency-alert system throughout the morning. The testing will be done to familiarize residents with the sound of the sirens and test if they are working properly.
The sirens are no cause for alarm, it’s only a test. The annual test is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
More than 100 sirens will sound across a 10-mile radius of the plant. These alarms are located in Newton and Kingston, N.H., and in Amesbury, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Salisbury and West Newbury, Massachusetts.
The Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant is a pressurized-water nuclear reactor in Seabrook, NH.
