NEWBURYPORT – Chief Christopher LeClaire reports that the Newburyport Fire Department is on scene extinguishing a fire at a home on Low Street.
At 10:50 a.m., Newburport Fire received multiple 911 calls about a fire at 186 Low St. — a residential facility that provides services for women with developmental disabilities.
Newburyport’s Engine 1 and 2, along with Ladder 2 and crews from the Amesbury and Salisbury Fire Departments responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a working fire in the attic of the home and are currently working to overhaul the building.
One woman and a caretaker were home at the time of the fire and had evacuated safely prior to crews’ arrival.
No injuries have been reported.
